Paediatric First Aid for the Outdoors

This 14 hour course is the full 12 hour course which meets EYFS (OFSTED) requirements with additional outdoor elements for practitioners who spend time in outdoor areas such as forest schools, play rangers or adventure playgrounds. We focus on the environment and outdoor hazards further. Scenarios will be delivered outdoors and learners should come prepared with suitable clothing - rain or shine! This is a dynamic, interactive and fun course - no sitting behind a table! We want you to go away feeling confident that you can put the first aid skills that you have learnt in to practice. We will cover infants and children with illnesses or injuries through a systematic approach. We will explore safety, cross contamination, vital signs, how to manage an airway, breathing difficulties (including child and infant CPR), bleeding, bandaging and shock, recording and legislation, the EYFS requirements, bone and soft tissue injuries, head injuries, neck and back injuries, eye, nose and ear injuries, poisons, burns, bites and stings, asthma, epilepsy, anaphalaxis, sickle cell, meningitis and common childhood illnesses. This course is particularly suitable for childminders and nannies as we cover lone rescuer situations as well as managing groups. Each learner will receive a certificate lasting for 3 years and a manual. Alternatively, we can come to your setting to deliver the training at a time and place convenient to you. The group price is for up to 14 learners and double courses are available - please contact us. Please note that some of this course has on line learning via our learning platform.
