Early Years

If you are working in or considering a career in Early Years then you could be working in a Nursery, Preschool, Parent and Toddler Group, Children's Centre, Childminder, Creche or a foundation stage unit in a school

We have a selection of courses that are suitable for any of the above settings. We will work with you on a 1:1 basis to guide you through the qualification meeting you at times convenient to you and your employer.

Qualifications

Understand how to set up a homebased childcare service (CYPOP5) - this is an optional unit from the full level 3 diploma which focuses on best practice to provide a home based childcare service. This course can be delivered as a workshop for a group of learners or as a distance learning course.

Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce - this qualification is suitable for assistants and support staff in settings. It is a great introductory qualification and includes the paediatric first aid course. It is delivered on a 1:1 basis with an assessor supporting you in your own setting.

Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce - this full level 3 qualification has a series of mandatory unit and optional units - enabling you to tailor the course to meet your own needs. This course is suitable for practitioners who have experience or who have supervisory roles. It is delivered on a 1:1 basis with an assessor supporting you in your own setting.

Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Playwork - this qualification is suitable for those starting out in the playwork sector or for practitioners who are assistants within a setting

Level 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Playwork - this qualification is suitable for those with experience of playwork or for those with a supervisory role

Level 3 Award in Transition to Playwork (from Early Years) - this qualification is suitable for anyone who already holds a level 3 qualification in Early Years.

HABC Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (QCF) - this 12 hour course meets the EYFS guidelines. We focus on the first aid needed for babies, children and young people who may be conscious or unconscious. All scenarios are practiced as lone rescuers scenarios, helping you to understand the order of priority. This is an assesed course and you will receive a HABC certificate and a manual

Paediatric First Aid for the outdoors - this 13 hour course is the same as the Paediatric First aid but also has additional scenarios and practice outdoors. We discuss the environments and additional first aid kit that may be needed. You will receive a TTCompany certificate and a manual.

Common Core Skills Course - this one day course is suitable for nannies. This can be delivered as a one day attendance course or as distance learning.

CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF) - This level 3 qualification is specifically for support staff working in schools with children and young people. Optional units allow you to tailor the course to meet your needs.

Short Courses and Workshops

We deliver a range of short courses including Equality and diversity, safer recruitment, supervision and appraisal, being a reflective practitioner, play in the early years, treasure baskets and heuristic play, understanding the playwork principles, an introduction to Playwork theory, play types and play spaces, out door play, risky play, playing with the elements, dynamic risk assessments, consultation and communication with children and young people, child development, observation, planning and record keeping, loose parts and cooking with children.

We are also able to provide pre registration sessions for local authorities.
